September First Friday Link-up

Welcome to our very first First Friday link-up!

The idea here is that every First Friday of the month, we post something in honour of the Sacred Heart on our own blogs and then link it up here. Easy, right?

This is a small way for us bloggers to make an act of devotion, of love, and of reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It can be long or short, just written or something from the vaults. It can be an article, an image, a poem, a confession, or a deep theological treatise. Really, it can be about anything you want - as long as it has something to do with Our Lord and His Most Sacred Heart.

Each month, I'll post a suggested question if you're looking for some inspiration.

September's question is "How did you first learn about the Sacred Heart?" Has it always been part of your devotional life or is it a recent addition? Or are you like, "wait, what even is that?" How were you introduced to the Sacred Heart?

We can't wait to read what you have to say!

The link-up will go live at 8:00pm GMT on the Thursday night before First Friday of every month. (This makes it 6:00am Friday morning AEST and 4:00pm Thursday afternoon EST).

  2. Love this link-up!!!! Thanks so much!!!!

  3. Nice. Count me in. Local mens religious shrine has First Friday Benediction and Adoration following their daily Mass.
I can't make the Mass of later Benediction but will get over there at "lunch" time for adoration.

I first learned of the devotion thru the images. when I returned to my Faith several years back there was a plethora of images to be seen on line. The devotion has certainly led me to a better and more fruitful prayer life with the realization of the dual aspects of Christ's burning love and the sorrow associated with our sin.

  4. I learned of the Sacred Heart by seeing it in Catholic homes as a child. I don't anymore, unfortunately.

  5. I was teaching a number of years ago in a Catholic school. Religion textbooks are in a word, terrible, so I brought in a Baltimore Catechism of mine and there was a matter-of-fact reference to the Sacred Heart. My students asked about it. As there were not any other references to it, I ordered some holy medals for my class and started discussing St. Margaret Mary and the 12 Promises for a couple of days.
I didn't have a lot of material, so I visited the local diocesan library and was dumbfounded by what I heard. I was told there was nothing in the library and that it must be an East Coast thing!!!!! Incredible.
I ended up buying a copy of books and sent one anonymously to the diocesan library.
My class loved finding out more of our Catholic heritage.

  6. Thank you for this link up and blog. I am so happy to meet more Sacred Heart devotees.
